THEIR STORY
The Herbivorous Butcher started organically. A brother and sister, sister’s husband, and sister’s surrogate sister, all vegan or vegetarian; cooked and ate together all the time – sharing recipes, improving each other’s recipes, and talking about food literally all the time. During a brief pause in the food-related conversation, Aubry blurted out “LET’S OPEN A VEGAN BUTCHER SHOP!” and everyone laughed and laughed and then, just as the laughter subsided, everyone realized it was a great idea. From that moment on we’ve been planning how we can fulfill that mission to deliver delicious tasting fresh vegan meats for a happier, healthier world.
WHY THEY DO THIS
We started The Herbivorous Butcher to bring you small-batch plant-based meats that are always fresh, flavorful, and protein-rich so you never feel like you’re sacrificing anything for healthy and ethical eating.
The need for meat alternatives has never been greater. Global demand for meat has tripled in the last 40 years, causing dramatic and unsustainable increases in greenhouse gas emissions, deforestation, and water pollution, intensifying pressures on land, water, fertilizer, feed, and fuel. A modest reduction in the consumption of animal products would not only spare billions of animals from inhumane treatment every year, but would have a huge environmental impact at a time when the world urgently needs to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to avert catastrophic climate change. We are responding to this call to action because together we can all change the world one meal at a time!
All our products provide optimum amounts of protein and B-vitamins that many meat alternatives lack, as well as modest levels of monounsaturated fats that help reduce cholesterol and satisfy your hunger so you can really feel good while feeling good about eating well.
