Giant Steps Foundation values responsible and effective philanthropy. Our mission requires a commitment to inclusiveness as a fundamental operating principle. It also calls for affirmations of diversity in its many forms, encompassing but not limited to:
- Gender
- Ethnicity
- Age
- Disability
- Economic circumstance
- Geography
- Philosophy
- Sexual identity
Diversity ensures that a range of perspectives, opinions, and experiences are recognized and acted upon in achieving our mission. We ask grantees to make a similar commitment to inclusiveness in order to be more effective and better enhance their abilities to contribute to our changing society.
In order to help promote diversity, Giant Steps Foundation reviews the composition of applicants’ Board of Directors, staff leadership, and staff as a whole. We may ask to review the policies, goals, and associated practices of our grantees that guide their Board and staff practices regarding diversity and inclusiveness. In each instance, we will take the information we receive into consideration in our grantmaking. Furthermore, we encourage our grantees to extend their responsibility to diversity to include contractors and vendors.
